How to fix a maytag performa washer?

Whenever the washer needs to stop, it does so very abruptly. The whole washing machine moves all over the laundry room. Does this have something to do with a brake? Where would I look to find the problem. As you can tell, I know nothing about washing machines. It is only 2-3 years old. Any Info would be greatly appreciated. Model # pav2300aww

I moved into a house in 2007 with a fairly new Performa pair and I've had to get both fixed a few times. The lid on the washed needed new fittings, and the dryer's belt broke. The washer seems to wash clothes OK, but most of the time, the dryer twists up clothes and sheets into knots. Clearly the Performa line was a substandard Maytag prior to being taken over by Whirlpool.

My Performa does the same things. In addition I have a leak somewhere underneath. I've called the repairman 3 times, he says that the Performa is not really a Maytag, it is an off brand using the Maytag name, that it is a piece of poor workmanship and that nothing can be done except to sell it.
