Mend Maytag A412 Washer Series Problem

My Maytag washer A412 series 10 does not continue after filling with water?

I used to solve this problem by adding a piece of cardboard in between the safety or interlock sw and the lid. But now even if I added more cardboard to push the sw all the way in, the machine won't work at all. Does anybody had the same problem before and what caused the problem.
Please help!

Maybe the switch has moved and is no longer being activated by the lid?

Your cardboard trick suggests that it moved to begin with - perhaps it's moved a bit more.

But it could well be defective.

Replace the switch...
