Mend Tecumseh OV358EA Engine 12 Model

How to connect a Tecumseh engine with 3 wires to a lawnmower with only two ?

I have a Tecumseh 12 HP engine Model OV358EA SPEC 206958G with 3 wires a red, a yellow, & a green wire that I want to connect to a Craftsman 38" mower that only has 2 wires going to the engine, a red & a black wire. Which wires connect to each other?

The red wires connect together and the engine green wire connects to the mower black wire. The yellow wire was left unconnected. At least it works!!!!
