how to fix my 12 hp briggs & stratton mower engine?
i have a 12 hp briggs & stratton mower engine. it is blowing oil out of a small hole under the fly wheel. also while i had it running the muffler got cherry red in a very short time. the fellow i got it from put another schroud on it so i do not know the model or type # but it was most likely built in the late 1980's.
any ideas.
the motor you have has been changed,from a old style to a new style. it used to have points and has been changed to electronic ing. the briggs dealer has a plug for that hole to prevent the oil from leaking. the muffler is cherry red becouse it has the wrong fuel mixture. change the jets and reset the carb.
