How can I fix my electrolux canister vacuum cleaner?

electrolux canister vacuum needs more suction. How can this be remedied?

If there is plenty of suction at the vacuum, where you plug in the hose, then the hose is porous (dried out) and leaking the whole length of the hose.

If you have the old style braided hose, with a cloth type covering it must be replaced. These hoses had a useful life of 8-10 years.
