how do i diagnos hydraulic system on a 2040A john deere tractor?

look in the hydraulic tank and make sure the fluid is still a clear red and not a milky pinkish color. if it is drain and clean out the tank. if it is cear red it is ok then check the seals on the hydraulics themselves and if that is all good with no leaks check the hydraulic pump
