Daf 45 fuel sender?

I replaced the fuel tank last year and the gauge now reads backwards. My lorry is 24 volt and I have been told the replacement must have been 12 volt for this to happen. I now have a 24 volt sender to put in and want to know what sealant I use on the cover . Thanks

If you have a replacement I would fit it and see what will happen, come back and let us know, feedback is always good to have but not often given.

Remove the sender unit from the fuel tank, rotate it 180 remount it and try that, be careful with the gasket (seal) if the wiring was alright and working before you replaced the tank it is possible it maybe just the sender unit. just a thought.

sounds like a wiring issue ..an idea is to remove the sender from the tank and manually operate the sender and see how it works ,im guessing it is the sender that fits in the tank half way ..point to check ,is the float ok ???

The tank was leaking Norb so I replaced the whole unit and scrapped the old one :-(. Tried swapping the wires over but still reading backwards.

Why did you change the sender in the 1st place ???Is the wiring ok ?

Better to pay someone who knows what they are doing, then trying to go it alone, you will only end up in a fix, what is your address..?

It'll only go the one way K as it goes from horizontal to vertical but only through 90 degrees so if put in the other way will not move when the level drops.

it might be possible that you have put the tank sender the wrong way round, and if you take it out and refit 1/2 a turn round it may read ok. [this is assuming it will fit both ways] i think the seal is either rubber or may be cork.
