00 Daf FA 45 model 150 ATI lacking power! ?

Hi I own a 7.5 tonne Daf 45, year 2000 ATI 150, The Truck recently ran out of fuel and I refitted a new diesel filter and the truck restarted OK but when you hit the accelerator the truck starts to shudder and emit blue smoke and started to airlock. I cleaned the tank and the fuel is going ok to the lift pump. The truck will idle over ok but maybe can you tell me is there a filter in the pump and how do i clean it out if there is?
