how can i fix my indesit omega 1200 wdg1295w, drum does not spin at all?

Hi Jez,

It is the 'brushes' by the sound of it, I have had the same problem and sorted it. Despite the fact the component you need looks nothing like a 'brush' (so called as old motors used to have small copper brushes to conduct power to the motor coil....sorry boring bit of info there).Moving on......

The 'brushes' are situated on the motor itself (there are two) you will see a single wire connected to a piece of plastic (i would highly recommend removing the motor to do this). Remove them and take them to a local electrical retailer,they should be able to help. Then scurry home and fit the little beauties.

Thanks for the reply to below.

I did some further checks this evening and looked at one of the brushes on one side, a small carbon sticking our of the plastic case on a spring, about 8-9mm maybe but I am sure contact is being made.

Is this enough?

Also and more important I had a volt meter and check the voltages being sent to each brush on spin cycle setting, and they both had 240v so this seems fine. No motor movement though, no spark or activity. Any thoughts?

can be brushes but can also be board fault (to check brushes remove motor remove plastic brush holders at the back if there is very little black carbon sticking out it will be the brushes) if plenty black carbon i can repair the board just email me msdapudsey1@msn.com
