Miele W827 flashing rinses light and drum not rotating?

Whilst in the middle of a cycle I heard a large noise think I had overloaded the drum with towels and during spin it was top heavy! I managed to select drain then open the door and take out wet washing! Now it will fill and drain separately with the rinses light flashing now and again but the drum does not rotate at all. I live in Spain and have just had an engineer look at it he says will need a new motor! I have had this machine a long time and it has been superb. Can anyone help with another idea other than a new motor they are such a lot of money. Thanks
