craftsman 17hp riding mower quits after 15minutes???

My craftsman 17hp riding mower, model 310707 type 0137, code: E1 020408ZA
starts GREAT! runs strong--for about 10 to 20 minutes, then cuts out and wont start.??????
What can this be? i've made sure the gas cap is vented, new plug, new air filter, changed oil, fresh gas, new fuel filter, etc. it seems to run a bit longer when it is cool outside. but it seems to be when it heats up that it starts cutting out??
