Windows 11, Dell 5450, JBL Bluetooth headphones?

My JBL bluetooth earbud headphones do not work reliably with my Dell Latitude 5450 Windows 11 laptop. When I join Teams calls the headphones connect for audio, but Windows does not connect the mic in the headphones. I see "connected, audio" rather than "connected, audio & mic". I work around this by generally starting each day by removing the device and repairing as if it is the very first time.
Lately, the audio on the laptop has started occasionally crashing. As if the Windows audio driver in the machine has stopped completely. When this happens the laptop does reports it doesn't have it's own speaker and microphone. I have to reboot to get this working again.
