I inherited a Toyota 4001 machine. The main problem is that the needle doesn't move up & down.
I haven't used any sewing machine in 25 years but it would be very handy for several things I need to do now so would welcome advice.
It also blew the lightbulb and tripped the fuse in the house and now the motor isn't whirring any more (though I think this might just be a case of needing a new fuse in the power plug or foot controller).
machine sewing backwards only, how do i fix this???

Hello Margit,
Just the bulb blowing woul cause the trip switch of fuse to go so it may not be an electrical problem, there is no fuse in the motor or control and if you have put a new house fuse in or reset the trip switch and checked the fuse in the plug and the machine still does not work then you need to get the motor checked out.
