Hi
We've had this shower for about 14 years now and had the situation where the water is hot - too hot, or on the economy setting the pressure is too low. The answer each time is to replace the element. A build up of limescale occurs in the container and the amount of water actually being heated up is less and it becomes hotter. I'm just about to buy my third replacement - we live in a very limescale water area.
Best of luck

...also, the overheat is a quite normal as right in the moment you switch off the shower, the heater element is still hot; and as there is very small amount of water remains inside, this is why it goes boiling. To avoid this happen, what you can do is before turn off the shower, always switch from hot to cold and wait until the water cool down, then turn it off. Before turn it on, switch back to hot and this way there will be no overheat.

the overheat light staying on is most likely to be a reduced flow in water problem. I usually get the light coming on in the morning (when most people are using the shower aroung 7.30-8.00am) The shower acts like a power shower at night when the waterflow is back to normal. I had this overheat problem quite a lot not just on the g9000s but other models as well. It happened moreso when I had the standard 15mm pipes. Now I have 22ml pipes and happens much less frequently. Because of the reduced flow of water, the heat tank heats the water "very hot" and causes the thermostat cut-out to kick in. It will reset itself once the waterflow is increased. A build up of limescale in the heat tank will also reduce the waterflow. I used to take the tank out and descale it. Now I've just added a water softener device to reduce the limescale in the whole water supply to the house. Hope this helps.

hello there i am experiencing the same problem, with the overheat problem,
Did you manage to fix the shower by replacing the thermal cut-out device. (my friend said that its probabily overheating because the flow of water has been blocked by limescale...hmmm he's no plummer...so could be talking from a different hole)

If anything what else could be caulsing the shower to overheat and cut out....

kind regards

i had this problem, solved by increasing the water flow. you may need to replace the standard pipes to 22ml
