How can I fix my Siemens Laptop?

I had my laptop on without power lead in and battery started to go so I got power lead to put in and in process the screen said hibernating and went dead. Turned bk on and gave me 2 options Restore Factory Fittings or restart which I tried several times and just keeps going blank. So a friend has z I could have a virus. Could this be the problem???? I doubt very much this is a virus.
As a possible quick fix - try this: Remove the battery (there will be a button to release it on the underside of the laptop) and power lead. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Then re-insert the battery and power lead and switch on - tap the F8 key before windows starts and choose "Last known good configuration" which may get you back up and running...

Hope you had all your music, pics & files backed up - 'cos if you restore your laptop from the supplied CDs they'll all be wiped. Hey, look on the bright side, you'll get a much faster laptop if you restore it from the CDs.
