Usually an indication of poor battery condition - a trip to your local tyre centre will get this checked for free!! Could also be the starter motor itself if it is of the pre-enganged type - a small motor mouted on top of the starter motor throws the starter gear into engagement with the flywheel before the starter motor gets the full power from the battery to start the car. If this samll motor does not work then you will also get the same symptoms: try a sharp tap with a hammer on the starter motor - will sometimes free it!!
