Mend Mitsubishi Shogun Equippe

How to fix?

mitsibushi shogun equippe, short wheelbase, 2004 plate. Both wing mirrors have gone "floppy" & close against door glass when driving. Any suggestions please?.

Having found that by pulling on the key Some times the bonet would open OK. I didn't cut out or drill. I just substituted a piece of fuse wire in the place of the suggested washer using a thin bladed screwdrive to open up a gap. Just twisted the ends of the wire together and trimmed off, job done ! The plastic rod was thus pushed back to engage the key. Works a treat !
