How do I force open the door of a Hoover Performa WA110 washer dryer?

During the normal cycle, the water failed to drain despite re-starting the cycle of my Hoover Performa 1100 model WA110. I disconnected the hose and manually drained the water, but the door will still not open.
The washer dryer is positioned beneath a counter so I can't access the rear.
The front kick panel reveals a hole just big enough for my hand and I can't see or feel anything useful within.
Can anyone assist?
As an aside, I intend to buy a new one as it is getting on my nerves, so forcing it is OK.
