F05 on hotpoint wmf940 can hear the pump but no water is coming into machin?

Hi there,
Washing machine was on last night, when f05 error code came on mid cycle and it stopped. We drained and cleaned the filter and now the machine isnt pulling water in? The digital timer is counting down but there isn't the usual noise for the water coming in. The pump is definately working? Please help! any thanks
