Mend Kenmore 385.16221300 Sewing Machine Needle Thread

How do I resync a385.16221300 the needle hits the bottom plate ?

I have a kenmore 385.16221300 the needle hits the bottom plate out of sync and rubs along the plate not in the recessed area to pick up the thread. Can I fix this?

you will have to adjust needle bar first to get a gap off approx. 5mm between machine body and needle clamp when needle bar is at highest position on upward stroke, from there see if needle/hook timing need to be adjust.hook must be just above needle eye and needle almost touching hook when moving behind .hope it make a little sense
