Mend Kenmore 158.14001 Turn Bought Garage Sale

Why won't Sears Kenmore 158.14001 stitch length turn?

Just bought one at a garage sale. Oiled and cleaned everything, but now see that the stitch length control won't turn. Do you have any suggestions??

It sat idle for YEARS. Took it apart, oiled it well, used two pairs of pliers to twist the part that needed to move. Later found that there is a "plunger" on that part which must go up and down also. Get it moving with some oil while you have it apart. Reattach all and enjoy!
