thread keeps breaking on vx-1120 brother sewing machine?

lowered needle to have it pickup thread breaks just about as soon as you step on the pedal i checked the tension on it seems ok need help

always difficult to give one answer on thread breaking without seeing machine but check following:needleplate for damage where needle fitts thru,bobbin case for proper guiding of thread,hook spring for servicability(not damaged)thread guide above hook,lower and upper tension,upper tension unit take up spring.good hunting
