ok thread is getting picked up when needle is going up not down and by lowering needle bar you only do part timing, best to start from beginning and set needle bar at approx 5mm between needle clamp top and machine casing when needlebar is at highest position.now turn handwheel until needle is at bottom and then on way up is when you observe timing.a approx timing is set when hook point is aprox in center of needle indent after approx 5mm from bottom turn point of needle bar. there after it means a little back and fro with timing until its good.not all machines are the same so this is the basic.also make sure new and correct needle as well as the correct way of fitting needle and proper threading
