Mend Sensorlink SL8 Intruder Alarm Light

How do I silence my SL8 intruder alarm ?

I am having problems as my intruder alarm is linked to the trip switch for downstairs light. How can I turn off the alarm so I can isolate the electric flow to enable me to change light fitting.

Okay it is not as simple as disconnecting the power as soon as you do that the alarm goes off

But first you have to disconnect the power.
