Mend Zanussi WDA1055 Washing Machine Motor Drum

My washing machine Zanussi WDA1055 wont spin?

My washing machine will not rotate the drum on a wash or spin cycle. Someone has suggested the motor or brushes should be checked.

Questions: 1. How accessible is the motor/brushes?

2. do you know of any useful videos that may show how do carry out this type of repair?

3. Are there any other checks I should make?

Any help/suggestions gladly received.

I have changed the brushes and the drum is now turning again- thanks. On the spin cycle, I notice excessive vibration as the speed picks up. Apart from checking the tightening of the motor bolts is there anything else I need to do? BTW, I found a very useful video from EzSpareVideos showing how to remove the cover, motor,brushes etc from a Zanussi machine similar to mine:

thank you very much. I have removed one brush and and it is between 8mm and 10mm depending on which side of the taper I measure it from. Is this too short and needs replacing?

lay the machine ON ITS BACK and you will see the motor with the brushes mounted to the side of the motor casing.brushes are held on with pozi screws or 5.5mm nut headed screws
