Mend Peugeot 307 Diesel Pump Car

how to fix peugeot 307 diesel pump?

my car hasnt worked for 2 months now.after taking it to a couple of garages one thinks it might be my diesel pump needing replaced but arent sure so dont want to do it as it costs £500-£600. any advice would be appreciated
