Siemens Induction Hob EH77054EU - both left rings not working?

Hi, I have a Siemens EH77054EU induction hob which is about 6 years old and the left side just went bang when the drawer below the hob was being closed. Neither rings this side now work. A knife had been pushed up in the gap in the hob edge and seems to have shorted something as the knife is blackened/melted on the tip and on the handle and this corresponds with marks on the hob.

It seems a bit if a freak but a safety question too.

Is this likely to have blown a fuse or the whole of the power unit? The right side still works fine as do the controls for this side.
