Mend Maytag Washer Water Agitate

My Maytag washer fills with water, but will not agitate. How can I identify and fix the problem?

Hello,

What happens when the washer is supposed to agitate? Any noises? Does it spin ok? If the washer is dead in both the agitate and spin mode it could be a bad lid switch.
