Hitachi PAF-1260PX microprocessor error code?

Okay I know something broke but don't know what. The machine let off an acrid smoke and powered off it's self. Waited a few days and plugged it in, it will take on water, agitate but when it comes time to drain for the rinse cycle it doesn't. The rinse cycle light flashes and then finally it gave what to me seemed like an error code on the digital display. Along with the beeping which alerted me to it the 3 in the final spin lights and both the rinse 1 and 2 lights were flashing. It is a seperate pump from the motor and agitator and connects to the back of the washer, all self contained but the washer would flash during a cycle when it did not recognise the lid as being down. I do not have the manual for this machine but I am very willing to repair it and have no idea what part to order.

The machine has been stationary in the same spot for a month and was in the process of washing/draining when this blew. Now the lid I know does not need to be down for this machine to drain water and yet nothing drained so it looks like pump and being self contained that would explain the acrid smell of something electrical burning out all but the flashing lights on the main panel which looks more like the lid is down. Does anyone know this machine enough to give us more insight ?

My PAF-1260PX has functioned well for 26yrs. Rarely have I cleared the lint filter. Yesterday the wash cycle ran OK, but on start of rinse there was a hum, but no pump action and so no water left the machine. I don't know what fixed this problem, but I did the following:
siphoned out the water, removed the back panel, took out the pump. There didn't seem to be anything stopping the pump from rotating. I cleaned the interior, and applied rust converter to the rusted metal exterior. I cleaned minor corrosion from the various electrical terminals. I cleaned the lint filter. After putting this back together the machine functioned normally...to my surprise. I was concerned that I might have needed a new electronic module (circuit board), and found on the web a company in Melbourne called Module Repair Service.......if ever you need one of those that could be an option.

This thread is rather old now but still relevant. I have owned a GE 700T (actually it is a Hitachi PAF1260PX rebadged) and it has been extremely reliable for 30 years. Unfortunately it has now died due to a short circuited drain pump motor which blew up the control board. These items are unobtainium. I am an experienced electronics technician and I feel I could repair this board if only I could obtain a spare microprocessor IC used on the board. The micro is pre-programmed NEC 42 pin device which Hitachi labels as UPD1511ACU-605 for this washer. I can get all other parts on the board locally.

A company in the USA tells me they can still supply this device but they have a minimum order of USD200 for overseas purchases so this is not viable.

See https://www.encompassparts.com/item/1785807/Hitachi/PAF-830X-929/Ic

If other owners could assist in making up an order then a quantity of 4 could be purchased.

Alternatively, I would be open to purchasing working control boards for either the Hitachi PAF860PX or PAF1260PX (they use the same board) from owners who have upgraded their machine.

I have has a similar problem with this machine not commencing the drain cycle. From my experience, the small water pump, located at the rear bottom right corner of the machine will most likely be blocked. I ofter find hair pins, safety pins or small coins to be the problem(s). You can usually dislodge items of this nature by unscrewing the left hand end (as it is on our machine) of the water pump. Be careful not to loose the rubber sealing ring as u remove the screw on / off cap. Clean out with a probe and / or water pressure.

That's about it. Like many others, we have found the PAF 1260PX to be the best washing machine ever! With 9 in our family we have survived over 30 years with 2 of these machines. I am currently sourcing spare parts for the 3rd time in 30 + years. We need a User Group to assist owners to source spare parts.....
