Mend Whirlpool 2007 Washer Not Agitate

2007 whirlpool washer does not agitate?

It does not fully agitate unless you put some hand pressure on top of the agitator. It does spin and drain the water out.

Any suggestio0ns and how I might be able to fix this?

Mine was doing the same thing & the repairman removed the controls cover on top of the washer & touched the plugin that controls your selector (Wash,rinse & spin selector) & it started working properly again. For some strange reason the plugin had lost contact to send signal instruction to the washer to agitate.
