How can I fix my Hoover TV630?

My dryer is blowing cold air and the filter clean light is on. I have cleaned the filter, but the light still comes on when I try to use the dryer, and it is not producing any heat. It is a Hoover TV630 model, and has been brilliant up till now - first problem I've had with it. Can you help?

The power button won't stay pushed in and it makes a horrible noise (although the dryer does go round) when I hold the button in myself!
Any suggestions?

From your discription, sounds like thermistat or maybe element. Couldnt locate a manual for this so I am going on previous repairs. Also I assume drum is turning, if not it could be a broken drum drive belt. The blower is separate. There is a circuit to prevent a fire if drum is not turning. You can disconnect leads to thermistat and test with multi meter to see if resistance(ohms) changes with temp. A hair dryer works better than an open flame. If the thermistat tests ok
inspect element for any visual damage, ie:burned out components on circuit board or broken filaments. I include

This job is more of knuckle skinner and basic tools are really all thats required.....and band-aids
