Mend Singer 93220 Bobbin Machine

bobbin does not fit in case?

my singer model 93220 sewing machine jammed up and I thought it was the bobbin, so I purchased a new bobbin, but I cannot get it to sit in the case properly. It is the same exact bobbin as the one that looked damaged? I am working on my girl scout gold award and need to complete my project soon. please help
