Mend AEG Santo 3774 6KA Remove Top Panel

How can I remove the top control panel on my AEG Santo 3774 6KA?

There are two small slots underneath with what look like release tags but pushing them with a screwdriver does not allow the cover to come free. need to access the pcb to repair/replace to stop flashing internal light problem.
