glow plug problems on my1996 peugeot 405 td?

hi all i did not get aconstructive answer to my problem and have eventually cured the probnlem my self after a lot of fault finding

the glow plug light does not come on now it did at the start of the problems and would sometimes come on when engine was running and then it started to get worse and now does not work at all I did call out the AA wheb i was away when the problem started and he reckoned that there was something else wrong as the voltage was not as it should be. the glow plugs work ok as the AA man showed me how to short out the relay to get the car started once running it is fine it is hust the starting circuit that has a problem.

does the glow plug light come on in the car and then go out after about 5 seconds,if so have you tested the glow plugs as they may need replacing
