Mend Black and Decker Still Wont Work

I rewired a cable on a hedge trimmer a a new fuse but it still won't work?

I went through a cable on a loaned black and decker hedge trimmer. I rewired it and put a new fuse in the plug but it still wont work. I have checked and re checked my work. Please help am i missing something?

Make sure the socket you are plugging into is still live, cause u might have tripped the main fuse in the consumer unit.
