most likely have a leak that filled the bottom pan on the appliance - that triggers the drain pump to power exactly as you described

you might be lucky and it will dry out, and don't add too much detergent, oversuds can leak down in there too and cause this (1-1.5 Tbls is all you need of dry DW detergent)
