when washing machain is filling up [cold side] the water will not shut off?

my basement just flooded because the water on the cold side will not shut off when filling tube,i have to cut the water off to it,its a roper 7 cycle which is only a year old,please help,steve

It may be the pressure switch that is not switching off the cold fill, Try cleaning the small tube at the base of the drum, there is a small plastic bottle with a plastic tube going to the switch and over time this becomes clogged up with detergant, This bottle has a small hole in it & the idea is that when the machine fills with water this increases the air in the plastic tube to the pressure switch & 2 contacts make & shut the water off

It is likely the cold water inlet solenoid valve stuck in open position. Replace the valve as a complete part.
