Are creda storage heaters asbestos free and safe to dismantle?

I have 3 Creda storage heaters which I am trying to dispose of:
1 Creda Automatic Model no. 79141
2 TI Creda storage radiators - Catalogue No. 790420000QL- serial no. 283C 002740
Are they asbestos free and can they be dismantled safely for easy disposal?

Hi I too have creda comfort aired system and it is not working thus want to remove,
I bought my property from the council.
If it had asbestos in it should I not have been told by the council, not only for my safety but also at the time I was with my family and had two little babies..for their ultimate safety.
The system is not working and taking up a whole cupboard plus amount of space.
Any recommendations please.

My mother has four creda storage heaters 72061 and 72061. She has beenquoted £600 to remove three and the one up stairs they want to charge her another £800 as they will have trouble lifting it. I feel that she is being taken advantage of.

CREDA HEATING PRODUCTS

Asbestos

All Creda heating products manufactured since June 1975 have been asbestos free.
Models produced prior to this date which contain some asbestos are as follows:-

STORAGE HEATERS 7001/7002
70001
70041/70051/70052/70061
72041/72051/72061 (BEFORE June 1975)

STORAGE FAN HEATERS 70101/70111
70131/70132 (BEFORE JUNE 1975)
70141/70142 (BEFORE JUNE 1975)

ELECTICAIRE HEATERS (Sometimes referred to as Comfortaire heaters, NOT to be confused with the Comfortair heater (spelling) which was formerly the Redring Sunstore heater)

1) 377 “E” type ( Distinguished by being a grey coloured unit)
2) “S” Type heater (Distinguished by being a chimney breast Shape)
3) “SF 6” Type (Chimney Breast)
4) “SB Type” (Chimney Breast)

Notes. The above storage/storage fan heaters and E Type Heaters contained medium density semi rigid insulation slabs of “Caposil HTI”, situated more normally as base insulation of the corebox containing the storage bricks. This material contained 10/15% brown asbestos (Ammosite), the balance being harmless calcium silicate.

Some of the heaters also contained a piece of Asbestolux (Asbestos cement board). This contained 16/25% brown asbestos and a small unquantified amount of white asbestos (Chrysolite).

The “S”, “SF6”, and “SB” Electricaire heaters contain a small sheet of “Viceroy” (Asbestos paper and aluminium foil corrugations 1” thick) in the warm air unit where the fans would be situated), either side of the fan unit.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT ALL OF THE ABOVE HEATERS ARE COMPLETELY SAFE IN NORMAL USE

Early models 71041/71051/71061 are asbestos free.

some storage heaters contain abestos materials, look on this web site www.aic.org.uk/Storageheaters.htm- it displays a list of heaters which contain asbestos. You will need the model no of the heater in question.

Do not take any chances with asbestos it can seriously hurt 20 - 30 years later. If not yourself maybe others working near you !!!!
