BT Synergy 4500 Handset Number to be changed?

Hiya,
I just now purchased a used (display product) BT 4500 Synergy Quad phone. The phone is working great.
The thing annoying me is, I have 4 handsets and it shows Handset numbers as
1, 2, 4, and 5.
Is there a way I can change or order all the handsets in numberical order may be 1,2,3,4 or 5,6,7,8 anyways in sequence.
I tried the manual but it doesn't give much information on this.

Any help welcome.

I have a similar problem. I just bought a replacement handset but it seems to want to register as handset number 1. The problem is I already have a handset number 1 so it won't register to the base unless I first de-register the other one. Surely there has to be a way of changing the handset number otherwise it's impossible for me to use this new handset!

Any help much appreciated.
