Mend BT DIVERSE X10 Bt Handset Additional

BT DIVERSE X10 ADD HANDSET PROBLEM?

I have a twin set, BT DIVERSE X10 and wish to add an additional handset from an older X10 twinset.
I tried the manual instructions and set it to base 1, then pressed the page key on the new base but the hadset shows searching but cannot find base 1. Any ideas?

I did the same. Tried to join the two twin sets but they kept falling out of range because there was two transmitters clashing.
In the end I opened Base 2 and cut what I think is a crystal wire(leg) (a cylinderical canister with two legs) and everything worked fine.
Base 2 just becomes a charger.
This may help and they have been working fine for years.
