I have a craftsman 6.25hp eager-1 model #917.377211?

I have a craftsman 6.25hp eager-1 model #917.377211. After I push the primer and pull the cord to start it it runs for less than 10 seconds and shuts off.....any ideas?

i fixed my start but wont run problem by checking the rubber tube running from the carburetor to the motor head. if its cracked or come undone it will not run. must be some type of vacuume adavance, but i'm not for certain. regardless once i hooked the hose back up it ran 5x5.

yes,i know what it is,on the bottom of youre carb,there is a bolt that holds the float bowl on,that bolt also acts as a pick up tube,if you remove that bolt or(screw)you must clean out the tiny hole in the bolt,w/ a guitar string or something like that,and spray some carb clean thru it,and thatll do it

I'm having the same exact problem and i thought it was not getting gas to the carberator but it was there is a black piece on top of the carb and i can get it to stay started by pulling the handle back and also holding this black piece on top of carb open at same time so i think the wire going to the black piece on the carb is broken, I haven't fixed this wire yet hope this helps thanks
