Mend Sprinter Loss Power

temp. gauge going high?

sprinter 311 x reg. the temp. gauge fluctuates and their is loss of power for second or two{goes into limp mode} engine not overheating and just replaced thermostat housing but still same. on motorway dosent happen only local when revving.
done 250,000. any ideas more annoying than anything else.

gauge sensor wire shorting on engine u rev engine ,engine moves rubs wiire ,gauge goes full swing,m way driving engine stable gauge ok,check harness where it touches or could touch engine prob be a small clean spot of contact.find break insulate.
