How can I fix my x box?

My early x box is not reading games properly,it starts to read then fails.Also the button on the front is flashing green/amber

the flashing amber means it has overheated at somepoint might need to buy a new fan. would take a lot of time to take apart an replace, would suggest buying a new console there cheap now 360 is out.
