The three phonos are Component Video. Any device that you connect to them needs to support it. If that device can also support progressive scan as well them you should see a better picture.

As to the 'PC Socket' that could still be anything: VGA, DVI, etc. There is a picture of a DVI connector on Wiki. Search on DVI.

the computer socket is a small one with lots of pins (female)and has pc writted under it.
It also has 3 phono type sockets a green a blue and a red socket with av4 written next to it and the letters C/b P/b and C/r P/r
I'm trying to find the handbook.

Four years is a long time in HD TV. What do you mean by computer socket. Are you sure that it isn't DVI socket? If so that can be used for HD. Second have a look at your handbook and see if the SCART supports Component (YPbPr) Video. Although SCART does not officially support it can be select from the menu of some TVs.

Obviously in either case you'll need cables and unlike HDMI (the more modern HD interface) you'll need separate feeds for sound.
