Hotpoint Aquarius WD62 won't empty?

we have a hotpoint wd71 it is the same as your machine but has no dials it is a digital display. Yesterday my machine would not drain the is a rubber sump connected to the pump has a filter in it my machine is 5 years old and th amount of fluff and gook we got out of it was shocking. It stopped the flow totally and the pump would cause the washing machine to trip out as it was not pumping anything through. It could also be the motor and you cannot repair a pump you just get a whole new unit the are 20 to 30 pounds max for the machine you have. Could i ask you when you do a drying cycle does your machine make a very loud buzzing sound from the the dryer fan. mine does me and my dad stripped it down and we fixed it i did a wash and i started to dry and it started to make the sound again i just woundered if it could be a commen fault

luckily pumps are available quite cheaply and most machines by their pumps in from the same supplier as pattern spares so it won't cost a fortuone to replace. You often find the pumps tend to seize/stall after a while especially with washerdriers, the pump gets double the usuage compared to a normal washing machine.

the pump is a complete unit but take the pipes off both side and check for anything in the pump and clear the sump at the same time
