how do I unclog my vacuum hose?

We did the same thing. After trying a yard stick, a coat hanger, a dowel rod with no luck, we used a drill with an extra long drill bit and unscrewed the sock out. It came out instantly.

ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE HANDLE THERE ARE TWO SCREWS. UNSCREW THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE HOSE,TAKE A SMALL SCREW DRIVER AND GENTLY LIFT THE NOW LOOSE PLASTIC COVER JUST ENOUGH TO SLIP THE HANDLE OFF. YOU WILL NOW HAVE A STRAIGHT HOSE TO WORK WITH. FIND A POLE LONGER THAN THE HOSE TO CLEAR OUT THE SOCK. THIS IS ALSO A GOOD WAY TO CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE HOSE. PUT A GYM SOCK OVER THE END OF THE POLE, SPRAY A LITTLE BIT OF HOUSE HOLD CLEANER ON IT AND DO WHAT YOU DID TO GET THE CLOGGED SOCK OUT. A PLUMBERS TOOL CAN DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD BY RIPPING THE INSIDE OF THE HOSE.

Use a plumber's "snake" ... you can get a cheap one at the hardware store for under $10 and it will also work to clear a drain. The snake is a flexible cable with a little auger at the end..by feeding is carefully into the hose, you will come to the clog. Gently rotate the cable to work the auger. Carefully remove the snake. Repeat as needed. Good luck. I have used a fishing pole as a probe in a pinch, too.

and I have a scarf stuck in mine ! I am going to try to get a plumbers snake in there !
