How do I change the retractable power cord?

Electrolux Epic 6500 SR canister vacuum cleaner. The power cord has become unattached inside and we do not know how to open the canister to get to the internal connection to fix it.

Open the end where the bag goes. on each side the long strip of trim slides toward the end you just opened. Pull on those trim slides all the way off, then the machine comes apart. Then you can get to the retractable cord to fix. Good luck., Dale Hayward, Rockland, Maine
