How to open up my epic 6500 SR electrolux canister vacuum?

The latch is on the rear of the vacuum (hose entry being the front), about mid-way up, center. Push in "latch" and pull cover upward to separate piece from body.

the after filter is under the vented cover just behind the tools on the top of the vacuum, where the air comes out when the vacuum is running.

Look at the machine from the cord end...at the very top in the center, on the vented cover you will see a grooved area, remeber, look in the middle of the cover....

Push in this grooved area and the vented top cover will lift off.

If you find the you cannot put enough pressue on the area to release the cover, stand the cleaner on the hose end with the HOSE REMOVED, and the BAG REMOVED, and then press the grooved area, you will find the cover will release, the filter is right there.
