Mend Sears 917.255732 Lawn Tractor Model

lawn tractor shifting problem?

My Sears model 917.255732 lawn tractor is very hard to shift. I have to hit the shifter very hard to get it to move. I have oiled all exterior parts. But there is no change. I haven't found any place to add gear oil to the Trans.

I was shifting from reverse to forward gear to begin mowing when something popped and the mower lurched forward then nothing, motor still run blades still turning. Will not move in fw or rev. gears . Mower is a 42in. cut craftsman 16hp about 12yrs old

I had the same problem but it finally quit and come to find out its full of grease and if its left outdoors it screws it up but I finaly had to take it apart and regrease evething and reasemble its OK ......lucky enough I am a tech with gm and if your not mech incline send it out to lawn shop ......lots of work !
