fix gear shift on Craftsman lawn tractor?

I have a model 917.289241 I bought last year. All of a sudden, the gear shift went limp and I now crawl without being able to accelerate. Simple fix?

Thanks. They use a nut push that came loose and fell out, and thus the Shaft came out of its hole in the chassis. Just a design flaw using a nut push on such an important and frequently used moving part!!

Sounds like the linkage has come adrift, follow the rods and linkages from the selector arm down to the gearbox
